Is $500 too cheap for me to charge for a templated website that is SEO friendly?

SEO is simple to do but it’s time consuming to find the right keywords. There is no sense choosing a keyword that is not being used in the search engines.. That’s just pointless.

It depends where you’re from. I just posted a project on for a project and I got a variety of prices. I need a web site that uses ASP.NET and captures email addresses (by the sounds of it a bit more sophisticated than yours) I got prices from $2,000 for US companies to as low as $500 for programmers from Eastern Europe and the Middle east. So, I can get a custom web site that allows users download files for a cost and captures emails for the same price that you plan to charge for a templated web site. Your price is a rip off compared to other parts of the world. Of course that depends on what you put into the SEO, although SEO is a simple process.

Surely, the price must be a function of the amount of work you have to put into making the site ready for prime time. A 1-2 page site based on an inexpensive template may well fall into the $500 range. A more complex site with a bunch of pages, a custom response form, and images you need to find, optimize for the web in PhotoShop, create thumbs from, etc. would drive the price up.
You mention (supplementally) keyword search, but that doesn’t seem to be a factor in your question. “Search engine friendly” simply refers to a site that’s easy for the search engines to navigate and index. SEO work – selecting keywords, incorporating them on the site appropriately, and building links (which is essential) would have to be in addition to just creating a “search engine friendly” we site.

I was looking for a way to generate more traffic for my business on the internet. When there are free wordpress and blogger templates free for download it will not be wise to sell a template website for $500. it would be wise to seel it for $49-$99 .
